Kraemer Building
Samuel Kraemer, son of Placentia pioneer Daniel Kraemer, worked with city founder Albert Bradford to convince Santa Fe Railroad to re-route their track through the town in 1910, literally putting the town on the map. In 1914, Kraemer built the first two-story structure in the growing town. Designed in a Neo-classical Revival style and constructed of red brick with a white glazed brick veneer, Kraemer himself heralded it as the “most impressive building in town.” The offices and shops in the building housed establishments of significance to Placentia through the 1910s into the 1950s, the peak years of the citrus industry and a time of prosperity in the city. Although it has been modified, The Kraemer Building is a City of Placentia Historical Landmark and is a strong contributor to a potential Placentia Townsite Historic District.
