Fox Westwood Theatre
Built as part of the Janss Corporation development of Westwood Village, the Fox Westwood Theatre was designed by Percy Parke Lewis in a Spanish Mission style with an iconic 170-foot white “wedding cake” tower. Since it opened on August 14, 1931, the theater was exclusively a first run movie palace and one of the sites for Hollywood’s biggest movie premieres. The interior decoration was overhauled in 1951, other refurbishment and remodeling was undertaken in the late 1980s and 1990s. In April, 2010, the theater was leased to Regency Theatres in deal which included the Bruin Theatre across the street. The leases expired in July 2023. It has been reported that a consortium of directors headed by Jason Reitman have purchased the theater and applied for expansion plans review. Fox Westwood Theatre was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1988.
