Calvary Church

The City of Placentia provided this information about the Calvary Church in its very helpful “Historical Resources of Placentia” interactive map: The Calvary Church, built in 1926, is significant not only for its Spanish Colonial/Gothic architecture, but also for its place in the broad patterns of Placentia history and for its founder, noted evangelist Charles Fuller. The cornerstone of the $41,000 building was laid in October 1925 and the building was dedicated on February 21, 1926. The Calvary Church in Placentia had a strong congregation, many of whom came from other cities. In 1954 a large wing was added to the south side. The north wing of the church was either shortened or altered in some fashion to accommodate the widening of Chapman Avenue circa 1990.
