Security Pacific
Listed in the National Register of Historic Places as Security Pacific, but earlier known as the Hollywood First National Building, the 12 story tower at the corner of Hollywood and Highland was designed by the noted architectural firm of Meyer and Holler which also designed the Chinese Theatre. The building is an elaborate stepped tower, combining elements of Gothic Revival and Art Deco. Medieval figures, floral patterns and medallions decorate the facade. Built in 1927 and opened 1928, at 183 feet in height, it was the tallest building in Los Angeles from 1927 to 1932. A variety of businesses, including attorneys, investment firms, real estate companies, doctors and dentists and entertainment industry-related companies, rented office space in the upper floors. It is a contributing structure in the Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District.
