Street and Tower Clocks

Street and Tower Clocks

With a rich history dating back to the mid-1800s, street clocks, public clocks and sidewalk clocks may have placed for more than just telling the time of day. Some advertised a jewelry store or clock shop. Some marked important dates, often centennials of a city or, like the Rotary Club, a service organization. Many, over time, have become a treasured and preserved part of the community. Expanding beyond our original posts of the Stedman Clock in Fullerton and the tower clock in the Corona del Mar Centennial Plaza, we offer a very small sampling of these “timely public service” clocks in all their various forms in Brea, Santa Ana, Dana Point, Riverside, Solvang, Garden Grove, the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado and elsewhere.
