Lido Theater
In case you missed it: The renovated Lido Theater, in Via Lido Plaza in Newport Beach, held its grand (re)opening Saturday, October 5, 2024. The single-screen movie theater was designed by architect Clifford A. Balch in the Modern Style (as it was called then). It opened to the public on October 27, 1939. The theater passed through several hands and several renovations before being leased by Lido Live for a movie and live event venue starting in 2014, closing New Years Day 2016. Following today’s festive event, the Lido will host the 25th annual Newport Beach Film Festival from October 17 through 24.
