The Victorian

The Victorian/Platt Office Building at Sherman Way and Corbin in Winnetka is a landmark in the true sense of the term. Master carpenter Dennis Platt spent years scavenging pieces from demolished Victorian buildings. Some were salvaged at Bunker Hill, but most came from the Little Sisters of the Poor rest home at 1st and Mott Streets in Boyle Heights. Working with local architect T.W. Layman in 1981, the construction of The Victorian incorporated and replicated windows, staircases and balustrades from Platt’s stash. The 3-story, 75-foot-tall “Queen Anne confection,” completed in 1982 and renovated in 2013 and 2014, provides 33,970 sq ft of office space. Per one leasing agent, despite its “retro” look, The Victorian offers all modern conveniences including programmable air conditioning, ATT fiber optics, Time Warner Cable, closed circuit Lamaran security and more.
