Fluor Headquarters
Fluor was founded in 1912 by John Simon Fluor as Fluor Construction Company in Wisconsin. The company relocated several times before building new headquarters on 105 acres in Irvine between 1977 and 1981. It was composed of two main buildings: an octagonal, 10-story, high-rise housing Fluor’s Corporate Offices and the lower-rise, triangular offices for Fluor Engineers and Constructors, Southern California Division (SCD). The corporate building contains 260,000 square feet; the SCD building 1.3 million square feet. The buildings were designed by Welton Becket and built under the direction of Alan Rosen, director of the Los Angeles Office of Welton Becket Associates (of Capitol Records building fame). Due to financial turmoil and restructuring, Fluor relocated to Aliso Viejo in 1999 and subsequently to Irving, Texas, in 2005.
