Pasadena Civic Auditorium
On February 15, 1932, the new Pasadena Civic Auditorium was dedicated “to the citizens of Pasadena, whose efforts and sacrifices have made the erection of this beautiful and useful building possible.” Opening festivities lasted a whole week. The Civic Auditorium, City Hall and the Public Library were the three principal units of the grand plan of the Pasadena Civic Center. Designed by Edwin Bergstrom, Cyril Bennett and Fitch H. Haskell in 1924, construction started in 1931, following City Hall and the library. The 2,997 seat Civic soon became the center of Pasadena’s cultural life. The auditorium is a part of the Pasadena Civic Center District which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
