Southern Counties Gas Company
In 1923, Southern Counties Gas Company built executive offices and the company garage in Santa Ana on the site of the Santa Ana Gas and Electric Light Works that SCGC had bought in 1911. This Colonial Revival style building was designed by one of the premier architectural firms of Los Angeles, Walker and Eisen, and built by Clark Brothers Contracting. It is the only pure colonial revival commercial building in Santa Ana and appears to be the only significant colonial revival commercial building extant in Orange County. The Gas Company operated at this site from 1923 until the mid-1960s. From the early 1970s through late 1980, Handlebars Saloon utilized the space. In 2022, the building was restored and renovated to become a full-service events venue, The Estate on Second. It is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
