Inside Hollyhock House
Oil heiress Aline Barnsdall commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design and build a home for her and her daughter as part of an innovative theatrical community. He named the residence Hollyhock House after Barnsdall’s favorite flower. Owned by the City of Los Angeles, tours of the interior were, due to COVID, slow to resume, accompanied with a no-photography restriction presumably to keep visitors from lingering and collecting inside. The photography restriction was lifted recently and several SoCal Landmarks photographers took full advantage of the opportunity.
