Saugus Cafe
The Original Saugus Cafe in Santa Clarita was founded in 1886 as the Saugus Eating House located inside the Saugus Train Depot. It is the oldest restaurant in the Santa Clarita Valley and one of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles County. The restaurant moved to its current location, across the street from the depot, in 1916. It has been in continuous operation since its founding and has been owned and operated by a number of different families over the years. The cafe has been visited by presidents Benjamin Harrison, Theodore Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower. William Mulholland and Fred Eaton enjoyed breakfast there on their way to inspect the liquid assets of the Owens Valley in 1904. As the Santa Clarita valley became a favored film making location, directors and actors were frequently served at the spacious booths.
