Paseo de la Guerra
Paseo de la Guerra in Santa Barbara, listed as El Paseo and Casa de la Guerra in the National Register of Historic Places, is a complex of one- and two-story buildings built over a period of almost 160 years. It occupies two-thirds of a block in the downtown area at State and De La Guerra. The oldest section, Casa de la Guerra, constructed 1819-1827, was originally a one-story U-shaped adobe residence with stone foundations, wooden beams, mission tiled adobe roof and plastered walls. Additions to the complex include the Orena Store Building built about 1860, the Holiday Hardware Building about 1870, the “Street in Spain” section, a copy of an Andalusian village street, in 1922, Restaurante Del Pasco in 1922-23, the Main Courtyard Section in 1923-24, the Anacapa Courtyard Section in 1928-29 and the State Street Arcade Section in 1965.
