McCoy-Hare House
The first drugstore in Westminster was built in 1874, fours years after Reverand Lemuel P. Webber founded a Presbyterian temperance colony there. This board and batten house was built by physician Dr. James McCoy, first physician of the Westminster Colony, and managed by his sister Martha. It was later owned by teacher and principal Marie Larter Hare from 1912 to 1984. The house was restored in 1976 by Westminster Historical Society and City Council as a Bicentennial Community project. It is located in Blakey Historical Park in which the Westminster Historical Society has relocated other historic buildings and artifacts of Westminster history. The McCoy-Hare House is an Orange County Historical Commission designated landmark.
