Seal Beach City Hall
The Seal Beach City Hall was the first and largest municipal facility in the growing seaside town. The two-story building was designed in the Spanish/Mediterranean Revival style by W. Horace Austin, a Long Beach architect who also designed City Hall buildings in Long Beach, Placentia and Santa Ana. It was funded by a bond election on January 29, 1929, after failing in a similar election in 1928. The building is comprised of three primary front bays which are adjoined on the north and rear by single story bays. It contained the city council chambers, fire station, police station and library. The structure has been joined to the 1969 new city hall by a Mediterranean revival extension. The original city hall was renovated in 1984 after being listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It now houses the Chamber of Commerce, a law office and SBTV-3 Community Television.
