Beverly Hills City Hall
In 1932, the Beverly Hills City Council checked out of the Beverly Hills Hotel to move into the new civic center built on its ten-acre property on the corner of the city’s triangular commercial district that had been purchased from Pacific Electric. The civic center included the City Hall, police and fire stations, an emergency hospital, a library and a post office under one vast roof. The three story building with eight story tower, topped with a tiled dome and gilded cupola, was designed by architects Harry Koerner and William Gage in the Spanish Renaissance style with prominent California Churrigueresque features. It was surrounded by Persian and Islamic-inspired gardens created by landscape architect Seymour Thomas. The Beverly Hills City Hall is Beverly Hills City Historic Landmark #12.
