Edison Historic District
The two-block Edison Historic District in Pomona has been preserved as representative of a significant era, architectural appearance, and industry in the growth of the city. The buildings were built between 1885 and 1923. Most of the buildings are built of brick, with some clad in stucco, parapeted in a variety of styles, and representative of a related style and method of construction. They housed blacksmith shops, car dealerships and repair shops, feed stores, a cooperative union (which housed the best dances in town), Edison Transfer Station, the Armory, the Auto Club – all contributing to the development of Pomona as the agricultural, commercial, and cultural center of the entire valley. The District is a California Historical Resource and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
