Crystal Pier
The Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach features the Crystal Pier Hotel, a collection of cottages added to the pier in the 1930s. Guests can “Sleep Over the Ocean” in Cape Cod style cottages with modern amenities such as kitchenettes, private patios, and individual parking. The pier has been a popular vacation destination since it was completed in 1927. Once known as Pickering’s Pleasure Pier, the pier housed a long area of carnival like attractions leading to the newly constructed Crystal Ballroom. Both lasted only three months before closing. Despite the history of changing ownership and disputes with the city, the Pier has endured and been Family Owned since 1961.
