Sunset Cliffs Natural Park
Dedicated in 1983, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is a 68-acre City of San Diego regional park that extends 1.5 miles along the Point Loma peninsula’s western shoreline. The park’s topography includes intricately carved coastal bluffs, arches and sea caves and a fascinating intertidal area. Besides the panoramic ocean views and renowned sunsets, migrating California gray whales can often be seen from the cliffs. Sunset Cliffs Park has two distinct sub-parks. Linear Park is an extremely narrow one-mile long tract bordered by the Pacific Ocean and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard. Hillside Park is a 50-acre hillside south of where Sunset Cliffs Boulevard turns into Ladera Street. The drive along Sunset Cliffs Boulevard is part of the city’s official scenic drive.
