Anderton Court Shops
Frank Lloyd Wright completed his last Los Angeles building, the Anderton Court Shops, in 1952. It is a small three-story group of shops on fashionable Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. The inverted “V” front elevation stands out in sharp contrast to its traditional, flat-front urban neighbors. The entrance to all the shops is off of an angular ramp leading up and around an hexagonal light well. Rising above the central light well is the building’s most defining element; a spire fitted with interior lights that project their illumination through louvers. The complex consists of six small shops, three on each side, each staggered a half-floor from one another and offset by the ramp. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
