San Joaquin Ranch House

Nestled next to the Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course, the Irvine Historical Museum is housed in the oldest remaining building of the Irvine Ranch, the San Joaquin Ranch House, built circa 1877 by James Irvine I. The building was used as the cooking wing and bunkhouse of the 1868 Ranch Manager’s house. The Irvine Company deeded the property to the Irvine Historical Society in 2001. Parts of the Irvine Ranch eventually gave way to residential, industrial and recreational developments that eventually became the communities of Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Corna del Mar and Tustin.
