Randy’s Donuts
In 1953, Russell Wendell, a doughnut machine salesman, built the second of ten Big Donut Drive-In shops at the corner of La Cienega and Manchester in Inglewood. The building, distinguished by a 32-foot donut constructed of rolled steel bars covered with gunite, was designed by Henry J. Goodwin. Robert Eskow purchased the shop in 1976 and renamed it after his son, Randy. It has appeared in numerous movies, television shows and music videos. Mark Kelegian, a Los Angeles-area entrepreneur, purchased Randy’s in 2015 to franchise one of the top donut shops in the country for 60 years.
