Santa Fe Depot
The founding of the City of Fullerton is inextricably linked with the Santa Fe Railroad. When the Amerige Brothers proposed the creation of the city, it was contingent on Santa Fe Railroad’s commitment to extend rail service through the land they wanted to develop. They brokered the critical deal with George Fullerton, the President of Pacific Land and Improvement, a subsidiary of the Santa Fe Railway. A Victorian style depot was constructed in 1888, a year after rail service was completed. It was replaced in 1930 with the present day Spanish Colonial Style building. It remains in service today as a key part of the Fullerton Transportation Center. The Depot in listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
