Getty Center

Designed by famed architect Richard Meier, the Getty Center opened in 1997. Sited on a bluff-top overlooking the Los Angeles basin, the Getty Museum’s six buildings house J. Paul Getty’s extensive collection of European paintings, sculpture, drawings, illuminated manuscripts from the Middle Ages to the 21st century, as well as photography from its inception to the present. Getty Center is also home to the Getty Research Institute, the Getty Conservation Institute, and the Getty Foundation.
