The Comedy Store
When The Comedy Store opened on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood in April, 1972, it had the distinction of being the first club to feature all stand-up comedy with headliners Sammy Shore and Rudy De Luca. The 99-seat “Original Room” was supplemented with the 450-seat “Main Room” when the club was renovated in 1976. The long list of comedians who got their start at the club includes, to name a few, George Carlin, Jim Carrey, Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Andy Kaufman, Jay Leno, David Letterman, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, and Robin Williams.
