Goldschmidt House
Renowned “Architect to the Stars” Paul Revere Williams designed the Goldschmidt House, also known as Casa Tres Vistas, in San Clemente in the “Mediterranean” phase of the Spanish Colonial Revival style. After opening his own practice in 1924, some of Williams’s early commissions were from business leaders in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles. His clients included Ole Hanson, founder of San Clemente, and the Goldschmidt brothers, Herman and Max, who had purchased land in south Orange County for vineyards. The Goldschmidt’s venture failed and Herman’s son, Adlai, sold all but 2/3 of an acre of the land to Hanson. He hired Williams to build his house on that parcel in 1928. It is the only private residence in the City of San Clemente listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
