Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
Begun in 1998 and opened in 2002, Our Lady of the Angels is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, replacing the Cathedral of Saint Vibiana that had been severely damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. It was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Spanish architect Rafael Moneo. In addition to the church, the cathedral grounds also include a mausoleum, gift shop, cafeteria, conference center, and clergy residences.
