Main Beach Lifeguard Tower

Part of a Union Oil Co. gas station was moved across the street by a team of horses for this first home of the Laguna Beach Lifeguard Department. Citizen activism saved it from demolition in the 70s and it was Laguna Beach lifeguard headquarters into the mid 80s. Its 400 sq ft of space serves as headquarters for the city’s rookie and junior lifeguard programs. The top floor is an observation room. The main floor holds first aid and rescue equipment, and a basement dug into the sand offers storage for surfboards and other equipment.
