Universalist Unitarian Church
Described as the “Elegant Little Church” in the press after it was dedicated on June 9, 1892, the All Souls Universalist Church was designed in a mixture of Norman and English Gothic styles by architect A. C. Willard. A. W. Boggs built the church with brick faced with Permian age Supai red sandstone quarried in Flagstaff, Arizona. The church reincorporated as the Universalist Unitarian Church of Riverside in 1957. Major seismic strengthening and restoration of the building were completed in 1988. It is the oldest Unlversalist or Unitarlam church west of the Rocky Mountains, one of the oldest remaining buildings in Riverside and the only one built with red sandstone. it is a Riverside Cultural Heritage Landmark and the first church listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Riverside County.
