Harvey House Railroad Depot
The Harvey House Railroad Depot in Barstow, now the Route 66 Mother Road Museum, housed a Harvey House restaurant and hotel. It is one of many built by Fred Harvey to serve passengers along the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad line and Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles in the late 1800s/early 1900s. They were famous for their “Harvey Girls” who were of “good character” and provided rail passengers with fast and efficient food service. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
