The adobe home of the last governor of Mexican California, Don Pio Pico, stands on the grounds of Pio Pico State Historic Park in Whittier. The five acre park was once part of Pico’s 9,000 acre ranch, Rancho Paso de Bartolo.

J. Harvey McCarthy developed Carthay Circle between 1922 and 1944. Architectural styles include Spanish Colonial Revival, Tudor, French and American Colonial Revival. Carthay Circle Historic Preservation Overlay Zone was adopted in 1998.

Pann’s Restaurant in Los Angeles was opened by husband and wife George and Rena Poulos in 1958. The building and its iconic neon sign were designed by architects Eldon Davis and Helen Liu Fong of the Armet & Davis architectural firm.

The Veterans Memorial in Murrieta’s Town Square Park is a landmark in process. After only 8 weeks of construction, yet 4 years of planning, the city of Murrieta dedicated a long-anticipated memorial to its veterans on May 31, 2010.

The Pastoral California mural on the west wall of the Fullerton Union High School Auditorium was created by Charles M. Kassler II and his assistant, Julian E. Williams, using watercolors over wet plaster, known as the fresco technique.

In the late 1980s the City of Redondo Beach approved the concept of creating Heritage Court. Work through the 1990s resulted in a Victorian style courtyard containing a rose garden, fountain, arbor and 2 historical Redondo Beach houses.

In July, 1982, the Bluff Park Historic District became the 2nd neighborhood given historic landmark status by the City of Long Beach. The district consists mainly of homes built between 1903 and 1949 in a variety of architectural styles.
