Carroll Park is one of the oldest Long Beach Historic Districts with homes built between 1898 and 1928. The Rose Park neighborhoods were first established in 1905. While many architectural styles are found, Craftsman is predominant.

Ulysses S. Grant Jr. (son of President Grant), oversaw the building of the U.S. Grant Hotel, named after his father, in San Diego. Opening in October, 1910, it quickly became _the_ scene for social and political activities.

Mission Santa Inés was founded on September 17, 1804, by Father Estévan Tapís. The mission site, now part of the city of Solvang, was chosen as a midway point between Mission Santa Barbara and Mission La Purísima Concepción.

Harvard Heights has been called a “preservationist’s dream come true.” The neighborhood, on the heights southwest of downtown Los Angeles, is predominantly characterized by two-story Craftsman-style residences built from 1902 to 1908.
