Built in 1931, the Huntington Beach Elementary School Gymnasium and Plunge, now the Huntington Beach City Gym and Pool, was the first recreational facility in rural Huntington Beach to offer recreation options to elementary school students.

The main U.S. Post Office in Santa Barbara is a combined post office-federal office building in the city’s historic core. Pasadena architect Reginald D. Johnson designed the building in the mid-1930s, construction was completed in 1937.

In 1962, Orange Coast College District bought 122 acres in Huntington Beach from Wilford Lewis, owner of Golden West Farms, for a new community college campus. Architect William L. Pereira was hired to design the new Golden West College.

The Queen Mary has been a fixture in Long Beach since 1967. It was shuttered amid the pandemic in March 2020. Starting on December 15, 2022, the city offered limited numbers of one hour guided tours of the 1st class passenger areas.

The Long-Waterman House in San Diego is one of the grandest of the great Bankers’ Hill mansions built during the boom period of the 1880s. It was constructed in 1889 by John Long, designed in the California Queen Anne style.
